Tim Walz mocked for Twins post as team sputters to start season

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz had high hopes on opening day for the Twins to have a successful season in Major League Baseball. He even posted a photo of himself at Target Field wearing a Twins jersey and holding a baseball glove with the message, “Happy Opening Day, Minnesota! 162-0.” However, the season didn’t start as expected for Minnesota.

The Twins suffered three consecutive losses to the St. Louis Cardinals and then were defeated 9-0 by the Chicago White Sox. This disappointing start came after the team had the worst record in baseball last season. Fans were quick to criticize Walz for his optimistic prediction as Minnesota fell to 0-4 on the year.

Despite the rough start, there is still plenty of time for the Twins to turn things around. Fan Graphs projected the team to win at least 80 games this season. In 2023, the Twins were eliminated from the playoffs by the Houston Astros in the American League Division Series after winning the division that season.

The Twins have not been to the World Series since 1991 when they clinched their third title in franchise history against the Atlanta Braves. With a rich history in the league, fans are hopeful that the team can make a strong comeback this season.

Overall, Gov. Tim Walz remains a dedicated supporter of the Twins and has shown his passion for the team through his social media posts and attendance at games. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on the Twins as they strive to climb back to the top of the MLB standings.
