Titans’ T’Vondre Sweat impresses NFL fans with fumble recovery run, stiff arm on Bengals player

Tennessee Titans defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat made headlines on Sunday for his impressive run back during a fumble recovery against the Cincinnati Bengals. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was looking to avoid a sack in the second quarter when he was stripped of the ball before hitting the ground. Sweat pounced on the loose ball and quickly turned up the field.

Standing at an imposing 6-foot-4 and weighing 366 pounds, Sweat showcased his athleticism as he evaded Bengals offensive lineman Alex Cappa with a powerful stiff arm. He managed to return the fumble 30 yards, setting the Titans up at their own 41-yard line.

However, the Titans’ momentum was short-lived as quarterback Will Levis fumbled on the team’s next possession. This turnover led to a touchdown pass from Burrow to defensive end Sam Hubbard, tying the game at 14-14 with 5:13 left in the first half. Despite the setback, Sweat’s play was a hot topic in the NFL world.

This fumble recovery marked the first of Sweat’s career. The Titans drafted Sweat in the second round of the 2024 draft from Texas, and he has appeared in 14 games for the team this season, accumulating 38 tackles, one sack, and a pass breakup prior to the Bengals matchup.

The Bengals, with a 5-8 record, faced off against the struggling 3-10 Titans in this matchup. Sweat’s standout performance added some excitement to a game that was crucial for both teams.
