Trio of teams remain unbeaten at Canadian Mixed Curling Championship

Teams from Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, and Quebec Continue Unbeaten Streak at Canadian Mixed Curling Championship

After five intense draws at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, teams from Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, and Quebec are still standing strong with unbeaten records.

Don Bowser’s Quebec team, consisting of third Brenda Nicholls, second Dan deWaard, and lead Pamela Nugent, currently leads the seven-team Pool B with an impressive 3-0 record.

Jason Ackerman’s crew from Regina’s Highland Curling Club, including third Amber Holland, second Sam Wills, and lead Colleen Ackerman, as well as Owen Purcell’s team from Halifax Curling Club, comprised of third Christina Black, second Adam McEachren, and lead Jennifer Baxter, are tied for the lead in the seven-team Pool A with flawless 3-0 records.

On Monday, Bowser’s team secured a decisive 8-3 victory against Kurt Balderston’s Alberta squad. In the same day, Ackerman’s team narrowly defeated Robert Smallwood’s Yukon team with a close 6-5 win in the afternoon draw, followed by a solid 5-2 victory against Dylan Johnston’s Northern Ontario crew in the evening draw.

Purcell’s team also showcased their skills on Monday, edging out Trent Skanes’ Newfoundland and Labrador team with a tight 5-4 win in their only game of the day.

As the competition heats up, there are three draws scheduled for Tuesday at the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club, including an anticipated afternoon showdown between Ackerman and Purcell.

The championship final is set to take place on Saturday afternoon, where the top teams will battle it out for the prestigious title.
