US Election 2024

Trump admin blocks citizenship for illegal migrant voters

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced a significant change to its policy manual aimed at preventing illegal migrants who have voted in elections or attempted to register to vote from obtaining citizenship. Under the new guidelines, USCIS will also initiate deportation proceedings against any illegal migrant who has committed voter fraud or falsely claimed to be a U.S. citizen for any purpose or benefit.

“Illegal voting undermines the will of the American people and threatens the legitimacy of our elections,” said USCIS Spokesperson Matthew Tragesser in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary, we are making changes to prevent and punish aliens who voted illegally in our elections from gaining U.S. citizenship.”

The updated policy will require illegal migrants to demonstrate good moral character (GMC) to qualify for citizenship. Any attempt to circumvent voter laws or unlawfully claim U.S. citizenship will be considered a failure of GMC requirements, disqualifying the individual from applying for citizenship.

In addition to preventing citizenship, applications for passports and driver’s licenses will also trigger the deportation process for illegal migrants. The move comes after President Donald Trump’s executive order in March titled “Preserving And Protecting the Integrity of American Elections,” which directed the Secretary of Homeland Security to verify the citizenship or immigration status of individuals registering to vote.

Despite legal challenges, President Trump has remained committed to fulfilling his campaign promises on revising immigration policy. The tightened restrictions and increased deportations signal a continued effort to remove millions of illegal migrants who entered the country during the Biden administration.

Last week, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin revealed that the agency has arrested over 359,000 illegal migrants and removed more than 332,000 individuals from the U.S. The latest policy update at USCIS underscores the administration’s ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws and safeguard the integrity of American elections.
