Trump hits Biden repeatedly in address to Congress

President Donald Trump did not hold back in his address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night, taking aim at his predecessor, Joe Biden, and delivering a scathing critique of his policies. Trump declared Biden as “the worst president in American history” and highlighted several key issues where he believed the current administration had failed.

One of the main topics Trump focused on was border security, an issue that has been at the forefront of his agenda for years. He criticized Biden’s border policies as “insane and very dangerous,” and accused him of allowing “terrorists,” “killers,” and “criminals” to enter the country unchecked. Trump highlighted the tragic deaths of Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungaray, who were both murdered by alleged illegal immigrants, and emphasized his administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration.

In a bold move, Trump claimed that illegal immigrants chose not to come based on his words alone, suggesting that strong rhetoric and tough policies were enough to deter migrants from attempting to cross the border. He received a round of applause from the audience when he suggested that all the country needed was a new president to address the border crisis effectively.

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine was another area where Trump criticized Biden, particularly for sending billions in aid to the country. He questioned the disparity in spending between the U.S. and Europe on Ukraine’s defense, pointing out that America was shouldering a disproportionate burden. Trump also highlighted a letter he received from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, indicating a willingness to negotiate for lasting peace, and called for talks with both sides to end the conflict.

Trump also took aim at what he called the “weaponization of government,” referring to the numerous lawsuits and legal battles he faced during his campaign. He accused the Biden administration of unfairly targeting him and his supporters, and called for an end to using law enforcement against political opponents.

The release of history teacher Marc Fogel from Russia was another point of contention for Trump, who criticized the Biden administration for not doing enough to secure his release. He highlighted his personal promise to Fogel’s mother that her son would be released, and criticized Biden for allegedly not lifting a finger to help.

Economic issues, such as rising egg prices and inflation, were also addressed by Trump in his speech. He blamed Biden’s policies for the increase in egg prices and highlighted the impact of energy policies on inflation. Trump promised to address these issues by focusing on energy production and reducing government spending.

In a final jab, Trump criticized Biden’s climate change policies, referring to them as “the green new scam.” He boasted about ending environmental restrictions and the electric vehicle mandate from the previous administration, and reiterated his decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement.

Overall, Trump’s address to Congress was a bold and unapologetic critique of the Biden administration, highlighting key areas where he believed the current president had failed. His strong rhetoric and promises to address these issues resonated with his supporters and set the stage for what is sure to be a contentious political landscape in the coming years.
