Trump issues executive order ordering reduction of the federal bureaucracy

President Trump took a significant step towards reducing the size of the federal government by signing an executive order on Wednesday aimed at eliminating several federal advisory committees. The order specifically targets the Presidio Trust, the Inter-American Foundation, the United States African Development Foundation, and the United States Institute of Peace – all of which receive federal funding.

This move is part of President Trump’s broader efforts to work with Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to cut unnecessary government spending and streamline government priorities to reduce inflation. The goal is to save taxpayer dollars and minimize government waste and abuse.

The affected organizations have been given 14 days to submit reports to the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB Director) to confirm compliance and provide explanations if any part of their government entity is required. Additionally, several other advisory committees and councils are set to be terminated, including those related to foreign aid, consumer financial protection, community banking, and health equity.

This executive order aligns with another order signed by President Trump on Tuesday, instructing DOGE to coordinate with federal agencies to execute massive cuts in federal government staffing numbers. Agencies are required to significantly reduce the size of the federal government, limit new hiring, and undertake plans for large-scale reductions in force.

The administration is also mandating that within 30 days of the order, key officials must identify and submit a list of additional committees and boards for termination. President Trump has emphasized that the American people elected him to “drain the swamp” and end ineffective government programs that do not yield measurable results.

President Trump expressed his determination to address the issues plaguing the government and hopes for cooperation from the court system. While he will always abide by a court’s ruling, he is prepared to appeal if necessary.

This push to reduce the federal government’s size and improve efficiency is a key focus of the Trump administration and is aimed at fulfilling the promises made to the American people. The administration is committed to delivering results and creating a more streamlined and effective government for the benefit of all citizens.
