Trump joins GOP women in Congress to launch new caucus

President Donald Trump is set to kick off a Republican Women’s Caucus at the White House, joined by female members of Congress. The initiative, spearheaded by Rep. Kat Cammack of Florida, aims to amplify the legislative priorities of GOP women members, support their endeavors on the national stage, and advocate for more representation in leadership roles.

Notably, the current House Rules Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx is the only woman leading a House committee in the 119th Congress, underscoring the importance of the caucus’s mission on leadership. The Senate is also expected to have female Republicans leading the caucus, although specific names have not been disclosed yet.

While the White House had announced Trump’s participation in a Women’s History Month event, the details were not initially disclosed. The event is expected to bring together Republican lawmakers who will be encouraged to share their top three legislative priorities with the group.

This initiative is not new for Rep. Cammack, who has been a trailblazer on women’s issues in the past. In the 118th Congress, she co-led the Bipartisan Women’s Caucus with Rep. Susie Lee of Nevada. The current leadership of the caucus has transitioned to Reps. Monica De La Cruz of Texas and Emilia Sykes of Ohio, with co-vice chairs Reps. Nicole Malliotakis of New York and Janelle Bynum of Oregon.

As the launch of the Republican Women’s Caucus unfolds, it signals a significant step towards amplifying the voices and priorities of GOP women in Congress. Stay tuned for more updates on this groundbreaking initiative.
