Trump knew of Israel’s strikes on Iran before they happened

President Donald Trump revealed in an interview with Fox News Channel’s chief political anchor Bret Baier on Thursday that he was aware of Israel’s plans to conduct preemptive strikes on Iran before they actually happened. Trump emphasized the importance of preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear bomb and expressed optimism about returning to the negotiating table with the country.
The Israeli strikes on Iran resulted in the deaths of three top military commanders, including Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Hossein Salami, Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, and Commander of Iran’s Emergency Command Gholam-Ali Rashid. Trump disclosed that he had been in communication with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu leading up to the strikes.
While the Trump administration informed key Middle Eastern allies about the impending Israeli attack, they made it clear that the United States was not directly involved in the operation. Trump expressed hope for Iran to resume diplomatic negotiations, despite signals from Iran indicating their reluctance to engage in further talks. U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff had plans to meet with Iranian counterparts in Oman, but Iran’s intentions to withdraw from further discussions have complicated the situation.
Israeli forces utilized approximately 200 fighter jets to target various sites in Iran, destroying numerous radars, surface-to-air missile launchers, and nuclear facilities. In response, Iran launched around 100 drones towards Israel, prompting Israeli forces to intercept the incoming threats. The situation remains tense as Trump monitors for any potential retaliation from Iran, with U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) remaining on high alert to defend both the United States and Israel.
The U.S. has taken proactive measures to replenish Iron Dome missiles in recent weeks, further emphasizing their commitment to safeguarding against potential threats. Trump is scheduled to participate in a National Security Council meeting later in the day to assess the ongoing situation. Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin provided additional insights into the unfolding events. Bradford Betz, a Fox News Digital breaking reporter, covered the developments surrounding the Israeli strikes on Iran, highlighting the complex geopolitical dynamics at play.
