Trump names Michael Ellis, Joe Kent and Sean Parnell to positions
President Donald Trump is wasting no time in making key appointments to his second administration, announcing three new picks in a series of posts on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Monday. These appointments come just two weeks after Trump was sworn in for his second term.
First on the list is Michael Ellis, who Trump has named as the deputy director of the CIA. Ellis, a lawyer, will not require Senate approval for his position and will work closely with CIA Director John Ratcliffe. Trump expressed his confidence in Ellis, stating that he will help “fix the CIA, and make it, once again, the Greatest Intelligence Agency in the World.” Trump highlighted Ellis’ previous roles at the White House National Security Council and as General Counsel of the House Intelligence Committee, emphasizing his role in uncovering abuses of the ‘unmasking’ process during the Russia investigation.
In another post, Trump announced Joe Kent as the new director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC). Kent, a former soldier, Green Beret, and CIA officer, has dedicated his life to hunting down terrorists and criminals. Trump praised Kent’s dedication and highlighted the personal cost he has paid in the fight against terrorism, having lost his wife, Shannon, in the battle against ISIS. Trump expressed confidence that Kent will help keep America safe by eradicating terrorism in all its forms.
Lastly, Trump named Sean Parnell as the chief Pentagon spokesman and assistant to the secretary of defense for public affairs. Parnell, a combat veteran with two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart, led a highly decorated unit in the Afghanistan War. Trump commended Parnell’s role in passing the MISSION ACT, the largest VA reform in history, during his first term in office.
These appointments reflect Trump’s commitment to building a strong and capable team to lead the country and tackle key national security challenges. The president’s selections bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their respective roles, and Trump expressed confidence that they will serve the country with honor and dedication.
