Trump names Stephen Miller, Dan Scavino to senior White House staff

The Trump 2024 campaign senior advisors, Dan Scavino and Stephen Miller, have been announced as part of the four new cabinet picks by the Trump-Vance transition team. This announcement comes as President-elect Trump continues to rapidly fill up his incoming administration.

Dan Scavino, who will be returning to the White House as an assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff, has been a trusted aide of President Trump for many years. He previously served as the director of social media for Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and worked alongside the president-elect throughout his first term in office. Scavino’s loyalty to Trump was highlighted when he was held in contempt of Congress in 2022 for refusing to comply with a subpoena related to the investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Stephen Miller, on the other hand, has been appointed as the deputy chief of staff for policy and Homeland Security advisor. Miller is known for his hard-line stance on immigration and was instrumental in crafting many of Trump’s policies in this area during his previous tenure in the White House. Since leaving office, Miller has been leading America First Legal, a conservative organization that challenges the Biden administration on various issues.

In addition to Scavino and Miller, James Blair has been named as the president and deputy chief of staff for legislative, political, and public affairs. Blair, who previously served as the political director for the Trump 2024 campaign and the Republican National Committee, played a key role in shaping Trump’s economic messaging during the campaign. Taylor Budowich will serve as the president-elect’s deputy chief of staff for communications and personnel, bringing his experience from working with Trump’s leadership PAC and Super PAC.

President-elect Trump expressed his confidence in the new cabinet picks, stating that they were the “best in class” advisors on his winning campaign and will continue to work hard to “Make America Great Again” in their new roles.

The announcement of these new cabinet picks came shortly before President-elect Trump met with President Biden at the White House, signaling the swift pace at which the incoming administration is being formed. With Scavino, Miller, Blair, and Budowich now part of the team, the Trump-Vance transition team is gearing up for a successful term ahead.
