Trump on India, Pakistan conflict: ‘I want to see them stop’

President Donald Trump has expressed his desire for India and Pakistan to cease fighting and has offered to help broker a peace agreement between the two countries. This comes after India launched missiles against at least nine sites where terrorist attacks against India were being planned, according to India’s Defense Ministry. In response, Pakistan’s military reported that the strikes resulted in the deaths of at least 26 people, including women and children, and labeled the attacks as an “act of war.”

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, President Trump stated, “Oh, it’s so terrible. My position is, I get along with both. I know both very well, and I want to see them work it out. I want to see them stop. And hopefully they can stop now. They’ve got a tit for tat, so hopefully they can stop now. But I know both. We get along with both countries very well. Good relationships with both. And I want to see it stop. And if I can do anything to help I will. I will be there as well.”

The situation between India and Pakistan is tense, and the international community is closely monitoring the developments. President Trump’s offer to mediate and help facilitate peace talks between the two countries is a positive step towards de-escalating the conflict.

It is important for both India and Pakistan to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy in order to prevent further escalation of hostilities. The involvement of the United States in facilitating peace talks could potentially lead to a resolution that benefits both countries and promotes stability in the region.
