Trump orders the dismantling of government-funded, ‘propaganda’-peddling media outlet VOA

President Donald Trump has taken a bold step by ordering the dismantling of the news agency Voice of America, the state-funded media outlet that he has criticized for promoting biased media reports. A senior White House official told Fox News Digital that Voice of America has been out of touch with America for years, serving as the voice for radical America and pushing divisive propaganda.

The executive order signed by Trump commands the dismantling of seven government offices, including the United States Agency for Global Media, the parent company of Voice of America (VOA) and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. The order states that the non-statutory components and functions of these governmental entities shall be eliminated to the maximum extent consistent with applicable law.

Kari Lake, who was named as the VOA’s next chief in December, is currently serving as a senior advisor at the U.S. Agency for Global Media. She informed employees to check their email for more information on their employment futures following the executive order. Employees received an email detailing that their employment was terminated, though the exact number of affected employees remains unclear.

The order affects several government agencies, including the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Voice of America has been under scrutiny for promoting biased content, including allegedly sanitizing Hamas in an article that failed to mention residents in Gaza cheering the terrorist group.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast criticized VOA’s coverage of Hamas, stating that American taxpayers should not be funding outlets that promote terrorist propaganda. The news agency has also faced backlash for other stories, such as one in 2020 that questioned white privilege and downplaying the Hunter Biden laptop controversy during the 2020 presidential campaign.

As the dismantling of Voice of America progresses, it is clear that the Trump administration is taking a stand against biased media reports and ensuring accountability in government-funded news outlets. The move reflects a commitment to upholding journalistic standards and transparency in media reporting.
