US Election 2024

Trump picking Cabinet at breakneck speed compared to 2016

President-elect Trump is wasting no time in filling out his potential future cabinet, announcing key positions well before he did following his 2016 election win. In the week since winning the election, Trump has announced six Cabinet picks, showcasing a sense of urgency and decisiveness that was not seen in his previous transition.

Most recently, Trump tapped Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., to serve as his national security adviser. Waltz, a former Green Beret who served in the Army Special Forces for 27 years and was deployed multiple times in combat, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role. Trump praised Waltz as a tough and smart America First fighter, highlighting his decorated military career.

In another swift move, Trump announced Rep. Elise Stefanik as his pick for U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Stefanik, known for her strong advocacy for America First policies, was praised by Trump for her toughness and intelligence. This announcement came nearly two weeks earlier than his selection of Nikki Haley in 2016, signaling a sense of urgency in building his team.

Former New York Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin was also announced as Trump’s pick to lead the Environmental Protection Agency. Zeldin, who ran unsuccessfully for New York governor in 2022, was praised for his efforts in helping Republicans during the midterms. Trump highlighted Zeldin’s commitment to maintaining the highest environmental standards while unleashing the power of American businesses.

Longtime adviser Susie Wiles was named as Trump’s chief of staff, making her the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history. Trump praised Wiles as tough, smart, and innovative, expressing confidence that she will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again.

Additionally, Trump announced Stephen Miller as deputy chief of staff for policy and former Immigration and Customs Enforcement director Tom Homan as “border czar.” Homan, who has served under six administrations and for presidents of both parties, was lauded by Trump for his expertise in policing and controlling borders.

While Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is rumored to be in line for secretary of state and North Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem is reported to be Trump’s pick for the Department of Homeland Security, these selections have yet to be made official.

Overall, Trump’s swift and decisive actions in announcing key cabinet picks demonstrate his commitment to building a strong and capable team to lead the country. With experienced and dedicated individuals like Mike Waltz, Elise Stefanik, Lee Zeldin, and others at the helm, Trump is setting the stage for a successful administration focused on America First policies and priorities.
