Trump says Biden’s team used autopen to implement radical border policies

President Donald Trump raised eyebrows during a recent press conference in the Oval Office when he expressed doubts about whether Joe Biden truly supported his administration’s lenient border security policies. Instead, Trump suggested that individuals surrounding Biden may have taken advantage of his declining mental faculties and utilized an autopen feature in the White House to enact radical directives related to the border.
Trump asserted that Biden, whom he described as a “sort of a moderate person,” would not have been in favor of policies that opened up the borders and allowed millions of individuals, including criminals and gang members, to enter the country. He questioned who was actually behind the decisions to sign important documents using the autopen, which automatically replicates a signature.
House Republicans, led by Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, launched an investigation into the matter to determine whether Biden was mentally fit to authorize the use of the autopen during his presidency. Comer indicated that he was willing to call Biden before the House to address questions if necessary.
The former president emphasized that the use of the autopen was a dangerous practice that suggested a lack of true presidential authority. He expressed concerns about the implications of delegating such critical tasks to others and questioned the legitimacy of decisions made in this manner.
Furthermore, Trump pointed to recent revelations about Biden’s cognitive decline, including a book detailing concerns about his mental and physical fitness during his second term as president, as well as a cancer diagnosis. These developments have reignited discussions about the extent of Biden’s cognitive decline while in office.
In response to inquiries from Comer, five of Biden’s close confidants, including his former White House doctor, have been contacted by the Oversight Committee. Comer has warned that subpoenas may be issued if they fail to cooperate with the investigation.
Overall, Trump’s remarks have added fuel to the ongoing debate about Biden’s presidency and the decisions made during his time in office. The investigation into the use of the autopen and Biden’s cognitive health is likely to continue as more information comes to light. It remains to be seen how this controversy will impact public perception of Biden’s leadership and legacy.
