Trump slams Putin as ‘very disappointing’ after massive Ukraine strike

President Donald Trump has announced that he is open to meeting with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the coming weeks, “if necessary.” This comes on the heels of a large-scale strike by Russian forces against Ukraine, which targeted the capital city of Kyiv.

The attack, which Ukrainian officials have described as the largest aerial assault of the war so far, resulted in the deaths of at least 12 people and left dozens more injured. The strike involved the launch of 298 drones and 69 missiles, making it the most extensive aerial attack in terms of the number of weapons used.

When asked if he believes Putin genuinely wants to end the conflict with Ukraine, Trump responded, “I can’t tell you that, but I’ll let you know in about two weeks.” He emphasized that his special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, is working diligently to address the situation and is dealing with the parties involved assertively.

Despite his willingness to engage in discussions with Putin and Zelenskyy, Trump condemned Russia’s recent attack on Ukraine, calling it “very disappointing.” He expressed his displeasure at the loss of life during what should have been a negotiation process.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has also expressed a willingness to meet with Trump and Putin in Geneva to seek a resolution to the conflict. Trump indicated that he would be open to such talks if deemed necessary.

Special Envoy Keith Kellogg is currently preparing for potential discussions in Geneva, though the timing of these talks remains uncertain. Russia has yet to agree to the peace proposal put forth by the United States, with its foreign ministry stating that it is still finalizing its terms.

In response to the ongoing violence, Trump reiterated his disapproval of the rocket attacks on civilian areas and emphasized that such actions will not be tolerated. He criticized Putin for the escalation of hostilities, stating that the Russian president has “gone absolutely CRAZY.”

Zelenskyy has called for an international response to the attack, urging for increased sanctions against Russia. Trump echoed these sentiments, highlighting the need for a unified global effort to address the crisis.

As the situation continues to unfold, Trump remains committed to supporting efforts to bring an end to the conflict and prevent further loss of life. He emphasized that the ongoing conflict is not of his making but rather the result of the actions of Putin, Zelenskyy, and Biden. Trump affirmed his role in assisting in resolving the crisis and tackling the challenges that have arisen due to incompetence and hostility.
