Trump White House releases video series leading up to America’s 250th birthday
The White House has unveiled a new initiative titled the “Road to Independence” video lecture series in anticipation of America’s 250th birthday. This series, launched on the anniversary of the first engagement of the Revolutionary War, aims to commemorate significant moments in American history leading up to a year-long celebration planned by the Trump administration.
The videos are a collaborative effort between the Department of Education and Hillsdale College, with college president Larry P. Arnn featured in an introductory video for the series. Arnn emphasized the importance of understanding and remembering key events in American history as part of the commemoration of the Declaration of Independence’s 250th anniversary next year.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order earlier this year to establish a White House task force dedicated to organizing the festivities for America’s 250th birthday. This task force will work with various government entities, private sector organizations, nonprofits, and educational institutions to ensure a successful celebration.
The “Road to Independence” video series will culminate with the commencement of the year-long festivities, set to begin on Memorial Day in 2026. The first episode of the series focuses on the Battle of Lexington and Concord, a crucial moment in the fight for American independence. Subsequent episodes will be released regularly on the White House website to highlight other significant events in the nation’s founding.
In addition to the video series, the White House will also mark the start of America’s quest for independence with a reading of “Paul Revere’s Ride” by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. This poem commemorates Paul Revere’s legendary midnight ride to warn colonists of approaching British troops in 1775.
President Trump’s commitment to honoring America’s heritage ahead of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence is evident in these initiatives.
