US Election 2024

Trump’s political team creates PAC to oust Rep. Massie from Congress in 2026

President Donald Trump’s political team has made a bold move by launching a political action committee (PAC) targeting GOP Rep. Thomas Massie’s congressional seat in 2026. This marks the first time the Trump campaign apparatus has directly targeted an incumbent Republican through a super PAC, signaling a new aggressive strategy to hold congressional Republicans accountable for opposing Trump’s legislative agenda.

The Kentucky PAC will be led by Chris LaCivita, a veteran Republican strategist who co-campaigned managed for Trump in 2024, and Tony Fabrizio, a longtime GOP pollster who served as Trump’s top pollster in the same election. The news was first reported by Axios on Sunday night.

The move comes after Massie emerged as a leading Republican voice challenging Trump’s constitutional authority in the decision to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities. When Trump announced successful strikes on three nuclear sites in Iran, Massie was quick to rebut, stating, “This is not constitutional.”

In response to Massie’s criticism, LaCivita sent a clear message on social media, stating, “F— around and find out.” This was followed by the confirmation of the Kentucky PAC’s formation, indicating that Trump’s political arm is prepared to respond to any Republican who undermines the president.

Massie, who has served as U.S. representative for Kentucky’s fourth congressional district since 2012, has been known for his willingness to disagree with Trump on various issues, including government spending and foreign intervention. Last week, he co-sponsored the War Powers Resolution with 48 Democrats, aiming to prevent Trump from striking Iran without congressional approval.

Trump’s threat to primary Massie for his dissent on the House GOP’s One Big Beautiful Bill negotiations further escalated tensions between the two. Massie’s refusal to support the megabill, citing concerns about the national debt, led to Trump calling him a “grandstander” and urging supporters to drop him in the upcoming primary.

In response to Trump’s criticism, Massie stated that he felt “misled” by the president’s foreign policy decisions and expressed disappointment in Trump’s reliance on neoconservative advisors. Despite Trump’s efforts to rally against him, Massie remains steadfast in his beliefs and continues to stand up for what he believes is right.

As the 2026 election approaches, the battle between Trump and Massie is set to intensify, with the Kentucky PAC playing a significant role in shaping the outcome. It remains to be seen how this political showdown will unfold and what impact it will have on the future of the Republican Party.
