Truro Heights heights man faces child pornography charges for second time
TRURO HEIGHTS, N.S. — RCMP in Nova Scotia have arrested a 49-year-old Truro Heights man and charged him with several child pornography-related offences for the second time.
Members of the RCMP provincial internet child exploitation unit and other detachments searched a home in Truro Heights after being notified by United States law enforcement officials and a social media platform that a Nova Scotia man was communicating with children online for a sexual purpose.
Following the search and subsequent investigation, Laurie Whidden was charged with possessing child pornography, distributing child pornography, luring a child, making sexually explicit material available to a child, making an agreement to commit an offence against a child and failing to comply with a prohibition order
Whidden appeared in court Nov. 16 and was kept in custody for another appearance Jan. 10.
RCMP did not provide information regarding Whidden’s previous charges or convictions.
