Truro man faces more charges in relation to home security scam

Nova Scotia RCMP Identify 17 More Victims in Home Security System Scam
Following an investigation, Nova Scotia RCMP have revealed that they have identified 17 additional victims in a home security system scam, bringing the total number of victims to 32. The scam involved a 54-year-old man from Truro, N.S., who was charged with fraud over $5,000 in March.
The man allegedly used high-pressure sales tactics to convince individuals to purchase home security systems, only to never follow through on their promises. Despite being released on the condition that he cease working in the sale of home security systems, the man was arrested again on June 4 for failing to comply with his undertaking.
As a result of the new charges, the man was released under stricter conditions. In a statement, Cpl. Terry Brown commended the victims for their bravery in coming forward and sharing their stories. He acknowledged the difficulty that victims of fraud may face in reporting their experiences and encouraged others to do the same.
“I know that victims of frauds can feel awkward or embarrassed and are hesitant to report their experience as a result,” said Brown. “It’s important for victims to know that we will follow up on their report.”
The Nova Scotia RCMP are urging anyone who may have been affected by this scam to come forward and report their experiences. By speaking out, victims can help ensure that justice is served and prevent others from falling victim to similar fraudulent schemes.
