Two men charged with shooting and killing a Georgia college student
Two men have been charged with the murder of Brianna Long, a 21-year-old Georgia college student who was tragically killed while working as a bartender at The Pier Bar near Valdosta State University (VSU) more than a year ago. The incident occurred on October 29, 2023, when Long was hit by a stray bullet during a shooting at the bar. Another co-worker at the bar was also injured but recovered from his injuries.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced on Tuesday that Tsion Clayton, 23, and Kimone Green, 21, have been charged with one count of malice murder in connection to Long’s death. Both men are currently in custody on separate, unrelated cases, with one being held in Georgia and the other in Florida. The GBI, along with the Remerton Police Department, have been conducting an extensive investigation into the killing of Brianna Long.
According to GBI agents, Clayton and Green were in Remerton, Georgia that night looking for someone involved in an ongoing gang dispute. The altercation outside the bar escalated into gunfire, resulting in Long being struck by a stray bullet. She later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Long, a former soccer star at Paulding County High School, was pursuing a career in dental hygiene at VSU.
Her mother, Brandi Spinks, described Long as their world, a cheerleader, Miss Paulding County, and an honors student. Long’s tragic death has left a void in the lives of her loved ones and the community. She was known for her infectious laughter, genuine personality, and ability to make everyone around her feel loved.
