Cape Breton Regional Police Investigating Serious Side-By-Side Crash in Sydney
Cape Breton Regional Police are currently investigating a side-by-side crash that took place in Sydney over the weekend, resulting in two men being hospitalized with serious injuries.
Details of the Crash
The crash occurred near Lingan Road, where the vehicle flipped several times, causing the 24-year-old and 30-year-old men to be thrown from the side-by-side.
Const. Gary Fraser, commenting on the incident, stated, “They’re both lucky to be alive. According to the officers on the scene, it was quite the carnage.”
The riders were thrown approximately nine meters from the vehicle in opposite directions. Both men are from Glace Bay, as confirmed by the police, and were taken to Cape Breton Regional Hospital for treatment. The younger rider was later airlifted to Halifax for further medical attention.
Response and Investigation
The crash took place around 3 a.m., with police being alerted to the incident through a rider’s cellphone. “That alerted the police to go to that area,” Fraser explained. “Then we triangulated the cellphone and we went in that direction, and we found them on the side of the road.”
The Cape Breton Regional Police are currently conducting an investigation into the crash. While the names of the riders have not been released to the public, it has been confirmed that both individuals are residents of Glace Bay.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
