UPDATED: One man sent to hospital following Dartmouth stabbing, suspect in custody

HALIFAX, N.S. — Halifax Regional Police have closed a section of Portland Street after an apparent stabbing earlier this afternoon.

Police said officers found a man who had been stabbed when they responded to an altercation between two people on the street’s 200 block just after 1 p.m. The victim was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A suspect is now in custody and HRM police said they are not seeking additional suspects at this time.

While investigators are on scene, Portland is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic from Maitland Street to Albert Street.
