Utah man arrested after allegedly trying to run Tesla driver off the road: report

A violent and dangerous incident on a Utah freeway has led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man named Oscar Fayani. The altercation involved Fayani allegedly attempting to run a Tesla off the road in what authorities have described as a deliberate act of road rage. The incident took place on Interstate 80, where Fayani was driving at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
Multiple 911 callers reported seeing a gold sedan driving recklessly and engaging in aggressive behavior towards a black Tesla. Witnesses recounted how the sedan was weaving through lanes, tailgating, blocking other vehicles from passing, and reaching speeds of up to 120 mph. One driver even had to accelerate to 95 mph just to escape from the sedan’s dangerous maneuvers.
The Tesla driver involved in the incident informed troopers that Fayani intentionally rammed his car and continued to pursue him even after he exited the freeway in an attempt to evade the aggressive driver. The situation escalated when the Tesla driver re-entered the freeway, only to have the sedan waiting for him and once again attempting to force him off the road.
Utah Highway Patrol troopers were able to locate and stop Fayani’s vehicle near the Great Saltair. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Fayani was driving on a revoked license and had two active out-of-area warrants. Drug paraphernalia, a marijuana roller, and two small baggies containing a white powder that tested positive for cocaine were also found in his possession.
Fayani now faces several charges, including aggravated assault with a potential road rage enhancement, reckless driving, driving on a revoked license, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the two out-of-area warrants. His bond is set at $910 as he remains in custody at the Tooele County Jail.
The incident is part of a disturbing trend of hostility and vandalism directed at Tesla owners and the company itself. Tesla drivers have reported being harassed at charging stations by gas-powered vehicles in incidents known as “ICEing.” Acts of vandalism, such as keying, window smashing, and slashed tires, have been captured on Tesla’s Sentry Mode cameras.
Tesla dealerships have also been targeted, with incidents of vandalism and arson occurring across the country. In various locations, politically charged graffiti critical of President Donald Trump and Elon Musk have been found, along with instances of vehicles being set on fire and shot at.
The Tooele County Police Department has not provided further comments on the incident. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
