The natural fire that caused evacuation orders and warnings on the south of the Central Vancouver island was measured on Thursday more than 34 square kilometers, about 58 percent larger than what it was the day before.

The regional district center of the regional district of Alberni-Clayoquot confirmed the growth of the fire and said that it was ‘in line with expectations’.

The explanation of the district on social media said that the fire is moving in a northeastern direction of urban areas.

The BC Wildfire Service said earlier on Thursday that the measurement of Mount Underwood Fire, 12 kilometers south of Port Alberni, BC, can change again as soon as crews can get a better appearance, either by helicopter or from the ground, because both are limited because of the thick smoke produced by the fire.

The wavy smoke has encouraged Environy Canada to extend an air quality advice to the northern Gulf Islands and the Sunshine Coast, with a bulletin from the agency that will be the hardest on the east of Vancouver Island, Texada Island and Powell River Coast.

An update of the BC Wildfire Service said that crews saw the fire that ‘moderately’ fire behavior at night, because cooler temperatures and higher humidity moved to the area.

“Southwest Winden are expected today, with winds between eight and 15 km/h with gusts of wind up to 20,” said the update published on Thursday. “This will continue to push the fire in a northeastern direction.”

Rain is expected to arrive in the region at the end of Thursday, with a prediction of 15 and 40 mm for the area of the fire, which includes more than 20 square kilometers.

The Wildfire Service says that the moisture will help to help fire control efforts, but the rain should be “important” to have a meaningful impact in the longer term in view of the persistent drought that Vancouver Island has a grip.

In a video placed by the service at the end of Wednesday, Fire-Behaviour analyst Ben Boghean said that the challenge with which firefighters are confronted next to the steep terrain is an expected shift in wind direction when the cooler weather arrives.

“This means that we are going to change what the back of our fire was in the head of our fire,” said Boghean. “There are many more fuels available to be pushed and then go north and northeast.

“Regardless of the amount of rain we have, because of the drought conditions that are here, our fire goes into these larger tribes, or heavier fuels that we call, and make it harder to actually be extinguished,” said Boghean.

The service also said that crews work to build a guard on the north flank of the fire, to release flames that cross the main road between Port Alberni and Bamfield and secure the access of firefighters to the west flank of the fire.

The community of Bamfield was recently discovered on Monday after the fire was discovered on Monday, and the main road that connects it with Port Alberni remains closed.

The regional district of Alberni-Clayoquot said in a separate function on social media that the malfunction would be expected, because BC Hydro staff could not go into the natural fire area until it was safely considered.

Authorities ask people who do not live in Bamfield to prevent unnecessary travel to the community, a hub for walkers on the West Coast Trail.

The BC Wildfire Service said on Wednesday that the fire did not endanger the communities of Port Alberni, Bamfield or Youbou.

The rapid spread of the fire this week caused statements of the states of local emergency situations by the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District, the city of Port Alberni and the Tseshaht First Nation.

Evacuation assignments have been issued around parts of the fire, including for properties on the east side of the Alberni -Inlaat.

Warnings are also in force for a Tseshaht reserve and properties on the southwest of Port Alberni, where residents can be asked to evacuate in the short term.

The fire is one of the approximately 90 active Blazes over BC, with less than 10 classified as burning out of hand.

The police in West -kelowna – an area that was destroyed by forest fires two years ago – says that they will investigate two separate fires within a few hours in succession on Wednesday.

RCMP says that both fires could be linked to fireworks because they had a report that people who operated a task vehicle from a utility company were seen the night before they left fireworks in the area.

The vehicle has been found and the forest fires have been admitted, but the police say that their investigation is underway.
