Man from New Brunswick Faces Multiple Firearms Charges After Traffic Stop

The RCMP has charged a man from New Brunswick with a long list of offences following a traffic stop in Enfield.

According to the police, an officer pulled over an Audi A5 on Highway 102 on the evening of August 29th due to a tinted passenger window that was deemed illegal in Nova Scotia.

“During the traffic stop, the RCMP officer detected the smell of marijuana and conducted a search of the vehicle and the driver,” stated the police in a media release. “The search led to the discovery of cannabis, a loaded 9mm firearm, and a sum of cash.”

The man, identified as Robert Victor Fraser, 32, from Saint John, NB, now faces a range of charges, including:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts)
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle in possession of a firearm, prohibited weapon, or restricted weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Knowingly possessing a firearm with an altered serial number
  • Possession of a firearm while prohibited (two counts)
  • Unauthorized possession of firearms (two counts)
  • Possession of a weapon or device knowing it is unauthorized (two counts)
  • Weapons trafficking
  • Money laundering
  • Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000

Fraser appeared in Dartmouth Court on Tuesday and is currently remanded in custody pending another court date later this month.
