Venezuelan opposition leader lauds Trump as Gimenez calls for unity vs dictators

Representative Carlos Gimenez, the only Cuban-born member of Congress, recently hosted Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó and various Venezuelan and Colombian community leaders in Miami to show support for President Trump’s decision to reverse a Biden-era oil deal with Venezuela’s dictator, Nicolas Maduro.
Gimenez, who personally fled from a dictatorship in Cuba, passionately denounced Maduro and criticized the previous administration’s deal with the dictator. Trump’s cancellation of the agreement with Chevron, which allowed the company to operate in Venezuela, was applauded by Gimenez as a necessary step in standing up to oppressive regimes.
During the gathering at Miami International Airport, Gimenez emphasized the importance of supporting those who are persecuted by dictatorial governments, drawing parallels between his own experience in Cuba and the struggles of the people in Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua. He expressed his commitment to helping liberate these countries and ensure freedom for their citizens.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Gimenez underscored the interconnectedness of the oppressive regimes in Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, highlighting the need to transform these “enemy states” into allies of the United States. He stressed the significance of promoting democracy and freedom in the region, including the importance of maintaining a strong, prosperous, and secure Latin America.
Guaidó also spoke at the event, praising President Trump’s stance against dictators in Central America and expressing confidence in the administration’s efforts to confront these oppressive regimes. He emphasized the need for a Latin America that is safe, democratic, and free from tyranny.
Gimenez expressed his support for Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the State Department’s efforts to address the challenges posed by these authoritarian governments in the Western Hemisphere. He expressed faith in the administration’s commitment to promoting freedom and democracy in the region.
The gathering in Miami served as a powerful show of solidarity with the people of Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua, who continue to fight for their freedom. The event underscored the importance of standing up to dictators and supporting those who seek to live in a society based on democratic principles and human rights.
