Video captures Connecticut home engulfed in flames on Thanksgiving as turkey fried in garage: fire department

A Thanksgiving celebration turned into a nightmare for one Connecticut family after a home blaze likely caused by someone frying a turkey inside the house’s garage. The Weston Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene, where photos and videos captured the home fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters faced dangerous conditions as the fire quickly spread from the garage to the residence. Despite their aggressive efforts, the blaze was difficult to contain and structural collapse hindered their progress. To make matters worse, a car drove over the hose, cutting off the water supply for several minutes.

After a grueling 16-hour battle, the fire was finally extinguished. Unfortunately, the nearly $3 million home, spanning 10,000 square feet, has been deemed uninhabitable. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported, but the official cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Approximately 25 people were inside the home for Thanksgiving when the fire broke out around 3:40 p.m. The Weston Volunteer Fire Department was joined by neighboring fire departments, including Westport, Wilton, Redding, West Redding, Georgetown, Weston, and Ridgefield, in their efforts to extinguish the blaze.

It serves as a reminder of the dangers of frying turkeys indoors and the importance of practicing fire safety during the holiday season. As families gather to celebrate, it’s crucial to take precautions and avoid potentially hazardous activities that could lead to devastating consequences. Let this incident be a cautionary tale for all, emphasizing the importance of fire prevention and safety measures in the home.
