Violent anti-ICE protests in LA and NYC as officials slam Democrat rhetoric

Protesters in Los Angeles and New York City attempted to block Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from carrying out their duties over the weekend. In response to violent protests and disorderly demonstrations, federal officials are urging Democrat politicians to tone down their rhetoric about ICE agents.

In Los Angeles, multiple people were detained by immigration agents on Friday during raids at seven locations. This led to violent protests breaking out across the county, including an attempted break-in at the Roybal Federal Building. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) declared an unlawful assembly and issued a city-wide tactical alert after it took them two hours to respond to the incident at the building, despite multiple calls for help.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a statement condemning the riots and assaults on ICE agents, noting that ICE officers have faced a 413% increase in assaults against them. The DHS also highlighted the doxxing and targeting of ICE officers’ family members in recent days. Officials blamed Democrat politicians for vilifying and demonizing ICE law enforcement, leading to the violent targeting of law enforcement in Los Angeles.

ICE operations in LA resulted in the arrest of 118 illegal immigrants, including gang members and individuals with prior criminal histories. Nationwide, 2,000 illegal immigrants were arrested during the week. ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons condemned the violence in Los Angeles and stated that ICE will continue to enforce immigration laws and arrest criminal illegal aliens.

In New York, anti-ICE protesters gathered outside the Jacobs Javits Federal Building in Lower Manhattan, attempting to block a van from leaving the facility. The NYPD responded to the disorderly group, and five people were taken into custody and issued summons. The van was able to pass through the protesters without incident.
