US Election 2024

Voters distrust in the Biden administration due to president’s mental fitness

The recent Fox News survey has shed light on the concerns of voters regarding former President Joe Biden’s mental fitness during his time in office. Many voters believe that there was a lack of honesty and transparency from the administration regarding Biden’s decline, with the majority calling for Congress to investigate the matter.

According to the survey, over half of voters (52%) feel that it is important to investigate whether Biden’s advisors used an autopen without the president’s awareness. On the other hand, 46% believe it is time to move on from this issue. House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer is currently pursuing investigations against former Biden administration staff for allegedly covering up Biden’s mental decline and using an autopen for executive actions.

Views are divided on whether advisors should be scrutinized for making key presidential decisions on behalf of Biden, with 50% in favor of an investigation and 49% wanting to move on. A majority of voters oppose investigating whether advisors covered up Biden’s decline, with 44% in favor of an investigation and 55% wanting to move on.

Interestingly, the survey also revealed that a significant portion of Democrats support investigating potential cover-ups and the use of the autopen. Overall, 68% of voters believe that the previous administration was dishonest about Biden’s condition, including a majority of Democrats, Independents, and Republicans.

Despite the controversy surrounding Biden’s mental fitness, the survey found that most voters were already aware of his cognitive decline even before his poor debate performance in June 2024. This awareness has been consistent throughout Biden’s term, with polls showing growing concerns about his mental capability.

Biden’s current personal favorability ratings have taken a hit, with 43% of voters viewing him favorably compared to 56% unfavorably. This marks a significant decline from his early days in office when his ratings were net positive.

The survey was conducted from June 13-16, 2025, under the direction of Beacon Research and Shaw & Company Research, with interviews conducted with a sample of 1,003 registered voters. The margin of sampling error is ±3 percentage points, with higher sampling errors for results among subgroups. Weighting was applied to ensure demographic representation of the registered voter population.

In conclusion, the survey highlights the ongoing concerns among voters about Biden’s mental fitness and the need for transparency and accountability from the administration. The findings suggest that Biden’s reputation and legacy may be at stake as more information about his administration is revealed.
