Wanderers fans give blood in exchange for ticket voucher to season opener

Halifax Wanderers Fans Donate Blood for Free Soccer Game Tickets
The Halifax Wanderers have teamed up with Canadian Blood Services in a unique promotion to encourage blood donations and reward fans with tickets to their upcoming season opener. More than 600 Wanderers fans have already donated blood in exchange for a ticket voucher to the Wanderers’ game against Pacific FC at the Wanderers Grounds in Halifax.
The initiative has not only attracted fans who were already season ticket holders but had never donated blood before, but it has also introduced many longtime donors to the Wanderers for the first time. One such fan, Hosherdar Polad, who donates blood every three months, saw the advertisement for the blood drive and decided to participate. He will be attending his first Wanderers game on Saturday thanks to the promotion.
Krysta Hanakowski, a spokesperson for Canadian Blood Services, expressed excitement about the partnership with the Wanderers, emphasizing the importance of encouraging first-time donors to come forward. The blood drive has brought in hundreds of new donors, helping to address the ongoing need for blood donations.
Jack Mol, the Wanderers’ ticket manager, came up with the idea for the blood drive as a way to engage the community and attract new fans to the team. With the recent expansion of the Wanderers Grounds to accommodate over 7,000 fans, Mol saw an opportunity to fill seats while supporting a worthy cause.
Derek Martin, president of Halifax Wanderers FC, has been pleased with the turnout for the blood drive and hopes to make it an annual tradition at the start of the season. He emphasized the team’s commitment to partnering with community organizations and engaging fans in various promotions throughout the season.
Overall, the partnership between the Halifax Wanderers and Canadian Blood Services has been a success, bringing together fans, donors, and the community in support of a common cause. The initiative not only benefits those in need of blood donations but also strengthens the bond between the team and its supporters.
