Canada is well represented at this prestigious competition, with two athletes competing in their respective events. Alysha Newman will be showcasing her skills in the women’s pole vault, while Christopher Morales-Williams will be competing in the men’s 400-metres.
For Newman, this event marks her second outdoor competition of the season. The talented athlete from Delaware, Ont., finished eighth at the previous meet in Doha, Qatar. The women’s pole vault event in Doha was won by Great Britain’s Molly Caudery, who cleared an impressive height of 4.75 metres.
On the other hand, Morales-Williams boasts a personal best of 44.50 seconds in the 400-metres. Ranked 18th in the world, the 20-year-old runner from Maple, Ont., will be facing tough competition from top athletes like Quincy Hall of the U.S. and Bayapo Ndori of Botswana.

While there are only two Canadians competing in Rabat, the lineup of international stars is nothing short of impressive. The reigning Olympic champion in the men’s 200m, Letsile Tobogo, will be showcasing his speed in the men’s 100m event. Tobogo recently clocked a season-best time of 20.10 seconds in Doha.
Another standout athlete to watch is Dutch runner Femke Bol, who will be kicking off her 400m hurdles season in Morocco. As the reigning world champion, Bol holds the No. 1 ranking in her event for the first time in her career.
Keep an eye out for the world No. 1 ranked Kenyan athletes, Beatrice Chebet in the women’s 3,000m and Emmanuel Wanyonyi in the men’s 800m. These talented runners are sure to deliver impressive performances at the Diamond League meet in Rabat.
