Wimbledon: Environmental activists disrupt play on court 18

WIMBLEDON, England –

Two environmental activists ran onto one of the courts during the Wimbledon tennis tournament on Wednesday and disrupted a match by throwing confetti on the grass.

A few Just Stop Oil protesters reached Court 18’s playing area before being taken away by security.

Play was halted by rain before clearing debris from the course.

The All England Club increased its security in conjunction with London police and other agencies for this year’s tournament, in part due to protests at other major sporting venues across Britain this year.
