Windsor youth to play new Mozart music
The Windsor Symphony Youth Orchestra (WSYO) will showcase a trio performance titled ‘Ganz Klein Nachtmusik’ this upcoming weekend. This piece, a newly discovered work by Mozart after 250 years, will be a highlight of the event. According to WSYO officials, this will mark the first time youth musicians in North America will be presenting this piece to the public.
The composition was crafted by Mozart during his early years, specifically for two violins and a cello when he was between the ages of 10 and 13. After being hidden away in the archives of the Leipzig Municipal Library in Germany, researchers stumbled upon it this fall, unveiling a hidden gem in the world of classical music.
The talented trio of violinists Norah Bellemore and Ruby Tullio, along with cellist Caleb Liem, will mesmerize patrons at the Capitol Theatre with their performance. This special showcase is part of the WSO’s Beethoven 7 concert happening this weekend.
WSO Assistant Conductor and Youth Orchestra Music Director Geoffrey Larson expressed his excitement for the WSYO members being among the first musicians in North America to bring Mozart’s newly discovered piece to life. The opportunity to perform such a unique and historic piece is a testament to the diverse musical experiences offered to students in the WSO’s youth orchestras.
For those eager to witness this musical marvel, the trio performance times are as follows:
– Saturday, November 9 at 6:35pm – 7:15pm (concert begins at 7:30pm)
– Sunday, November 10 at 1:35pm – 2:15pm (concert begins at 2:30pm)
Tickets for the trio performances can be purchased through the Windsor Symphony website. Don’t miss this extraordinary chance to witness young talent breathe life into a newly discovered masterpiece by one of the greatest composers in history.
