Witness places Adam Drake at bar where Pat Stay was stabbed

Adam Drake’s murder trial took a dramatic turn as a witness placed him at the scene of the crime where Dartmouth battle rapper Pat Stay was fatally stabbed. The trial, now in its second week in Nova Scotia Supreme Court, has been closely followed by the public.

Nicole Zakhaur, who was acquainted with both Drake and the late rap artist, testified that she received an Instagram message from Drake inviting her for drinks on the evening of Sept. 3, 2022. She and a friend met Drake at the Marriott Harbourfront, where he was staying. They later joined another man whose name she couldn’t recall and headed to the Yacht Club Social, the nightclub where Stay met his tragic end.

The group settled in a VIP section at the back of the bar, where Zakhaur witnessed the events of that fateful night. She described seeing Stay arrive at the bar and eventually tumble to the ground, unaware of the severity of his injuries. The commotion that followed made it clear that something terrible had occurred.

Security videos from the bar corroborated Zakhaur’s account, showing Drake making frequent trips to the front door without explanation. Despite the chaos unfolding around them, Zakhaur claimed that Drake’s demeanor remained unchanged throughout the night.

After the incident, Zakhaur, Drake, her friend, and the other man left the bar through a back exit and returned to the Marriott. Drake went inside while the others continued their night at another bar. It wasn’t until later that Zakhaur learned of the stabbing, expressing disbelief that she had been in such close proximity to the tragedy.

During cross-examination, Zakhaur revealed that she had not been in contact with Drake for years prior to that night. She emphasized that the decision to visit the Yacht Club Social was random and based on a desire for a fun night out. Despite the shocking turn of events, Zakhaur maintained that there were “good vibes” throughout the evening.
