Vancouver is set to make history as it hosts the first WNBA regular-season game played outside the United States next year. The Atlanta Dream and the Seattle Storm will face off at Rogers Arena on August 15, marking a significant milestone for women’s professional basketball.
Scheduled just 10 months before the expansion Toronto Tempo’s debut in the 2026 season, this game highlights the growing popularity and global reach of the WNBA.
This game will be the third WNBA event held in Canada, following exhibition games in Edmonton and Toronto in previous years. With the addition of Toronto and Portland as expansion teams, the league will now consist of 15 teams, showcasing the continued growth and success of women’s basketball.
The Atlanta Dream, fresh off a second consecutive playoff appearance in 2024, boasts a talented roster including Laeticia Amihere and 2022 rookie of the year Tina Charles. On the other hand, the Seattle Storm, a four-time WNBA champion, are celebrating their 25th anniversary season with star players like Nneka Ogwumike, Jewell Loyd, and Skylar Diggins-Smith.
