Woman arrested after buildings and vehicles in Digby vandalized with spray paint, profanities
The small town of Digby, N.S. was recently rocked by a spate of vandalism that left residents feeling violated and unsafe. Cassie Dulong, a resident of West Street, woke up to find her car defaced with bright orange spray paint. However, she soon discovered that she wasn’t the only victim – vehicles, buildings, and even a boat had been targeted along her street.
The community quickly rallied together to support one another and provide surveillance footage to the RCMP, leading to the arrest of a 20-year-old woman from Marshalltown, N.S. The woman faces multiple charges, including mischief, trespassing, theft, and failure to comply with a probation order. The impact of the vandalism was not lost on Sgt. Grant Ryland, who acknowledged the distress it caused to the owners of the vehicles and government buildings.
Mayor Mike Bartlett commended the community for coming together to assist in the investigation, but for residents like Dulong, the incident has left a lasting impact. Dulong, who is considering installing additional security measures such as cameras and lights, expressed her frustration and concern over the recent increase in crime in the area.
As a relatively new resident to Digby, Dulong’s experience has left her questioning whether or not to stay in the town if more isn’t done to address the vandalism and crime. The sense of violation and unease felt by residents like Dulong underscores the importance of community vigilance and cooperation in preventing and addressing criminal activity.
Moving forward, it is crucial for residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. By working together and taking proactive measures to enhance security, the community can create a safer and more secure environment for all residents.
