Woman dead after crash on 104 near New Glasgow

One person is dead after a crash on Highway 104 near New Glasgow Friday evening.
RCMP say a Honda Civic was traveling east at 5:40 p.m. when it struck a deer. The car was then struck from behind by a transport truck.
The driver of the car, a 42-year-old woman from New Glasgow, was taken to the town’s hospital by ambulance and then airlifted to Halifax, where she passed away as a result of her injuries. She was the only person driving the car.
The 61-year-old New Brunswick man driving the truck was taken to hospital with injures described as not life-threatening.
The road was closed for several hours while a collision reconstructionist worked at the scene.
The investigation is continuing. Anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t yet spoken with police is asked to call Pictou County District RCMP at 902-485-4333.
