Woman drops lawsuit against Jay-Z, Sean (Diddy) Combs alleging she was raped at age 13

An Alabama woman who claimed she was sexually assaulted by rappers Jay-Z and Sean (Diddy) Combs when she was just 13 years old has withdrawn her civil lawsuit against the two men. The woman, referred to as Jane Doe, voluntarily dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning she cannot bring it again in the future.
The woman had initially filed a lawsuit against Sean Combs in Manhattan federal court, alleging that she was attacked by the rappers in 2000 after being offered a ride to an MTV Video Music Awards after-party by Combs’ limo driver. In December, she added Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, to the lawsuit. However, Jay-Z vehemently denied the claims and attempted to be removed from the lawsuit. He called the woman’s decision to withdraw the lawsuit a “victory” and labeled the allegations as a “fictional tale.”
Combs, who is currently awaiting a separate criminal trial on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges, remains jailed in New York and has pleaded not guilty. He is facing multiple sexual assault lawsuits, many of which were filed by the plaintiff’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee. Buzbee, a Texas attorney, stated that his firm represents over 150 individuals, both men and women, who allege sexual abuse and exploitation by Combs. Lawyers for Combs asserted that the dismissal of the lawsuit without a settlement confirms that the other lawsuits against him are also based on falsehoods.
Both Jay-Z and Combs are influential figures in the hip-hop industry, having risen to prominence in the 2000s as successful entrepreneurs and some of the world’s wealthiest rappers. The two artists have collaborated on various projects over the years and have been frequently seen together at events. Jay-Z, with 25 Grammy wins, and Diddy, with three trophies, have solidified their places as icons in the music industry.
