Worker assaulted in downtown Halifax dine and dash

HALIFAX, N.S. — A dine and dash turned dangerous in downtown Halifax on Monday afternoon.

Just before 1 p.m., Halifax Regional Police were called to a restaurant on Hollis Street where a customer had reportedly refused to pay for his meal and cut one of the employees when they approached him.

The customer fled on foot but a suspect was arrested a short distance away.

Blake Martin Swan, 28, is charged with robbery, assault causing bodily harm, possessing a weapon dangerous to public peace, fraudulently obtaining food, possessing property under $5,000 obtained by crime, and three counts of failing to reply with a release order.

He was to appear in provincial court Tuesday.
