empathy, their ability to be kind and generous,\” Green says. \”We try to get young men to think about that, because we know that when they think about those things and try to live those kinds of values, their mental health is better, their relationships are better, their academic performance is better.\”Halpin says he hopes his study brings attention to the harmful effects of looksmaxxing and encourages parents to talk to their children about their self-worth and the dangers of seeking validation through physical appearance.\”I would encourage parents to have very open, honest conversations with their sons and let them know that they are valued for more than just their appearance,\” Halpin says. \”That their worth as a human being is not tied to how they look, but who they are as a person.\”Ultimately, Halpin says the looksmaxxing community highlights the need for society to challenge traditional gender norms and expectations, and for individuals to find self-acceptance and self-worth beyond physical appearance.\”I think the answer is to try to create a society where people feel valued for who they are as opposed to what they look like,\” Halpin says. \”And that’s something that we can all work towards.\”
