Youth kayaker missing since Thursday found dead in Pictou County lake

Nova Scotia RCMP announced on Friday night that they had located the body of a youth kayaker who had fallen into the water the previous evening. The identity of the kayaker, described as a male youth, has not been released to the public.

The tragic incident occurred on Thursday evening when two siblings were paddling in separate kayaks on Eden Lake in Pictou County. One of the kayaks overturned, leading to a frantic search for the missing youth. Multiple agencies, including a helicopter and drone, were involved in the search efforts that began around 5 p.m. AT on Thursday.

After more than 24 hours of searching, divers discovered the body of the kayaker at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Despite the heartbreaking outcome, RCMP have stated that they do not suspect any criminal involvement in the death.

The community is mourning the loss of the young kayaker, and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. As the investigation continues, authorities will work to determine the cause of the tragic accident and provide support to those affected by the loss.
