Texas has made a bold move by offering the incoming Trump administration a tract of over 1,400 acres in Starr County for its mass deportation operation set to begin in January. The state’s Land Commissioner, Dawn Buckingham, wrote a letter to President-elect Donald Trump offering the land, which was purchased from a ranch owner in October. The 1,402 acres are located near the border in the Rio Grande Valley sector.
In her letter to Trump, Buckingham expressed the state’s readiness to collaborate with the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or the United States Border Patrol to build a facility for processing, detention, and coordination of what is anticipated to be the largest deportation of violent criminals in the nation’s history.
The Texas General Land Office acquired the land to support the construction of additional border wall, a project that was halted by the Biden administration. The area, formerly a ranch, had been plagued by drug smuggling and human trafficking activities.
Buckingham emphasized her commitment to ensuring safe communities and expressed support for the Trump administration’s efforts to deport violent criminals. She highlighted the need to address the issue of criminals entering the country illegally and causing harm to American citizens.
With Trump’s victory in the recent election, Buckingham saw an opportunity to offer the land for the administration’s deportation operation. She noted that the flat farmland was suitable for building a detention center and was easily accessible to international airports and major crossing points along the river.
The Trump administration’s plans for a mass deportation operation have been set in motion following the election, with officials exploring options for additional detention space. Buckingham believes that the election results reflect the American people’s desire for secure communities and legal immigration practices.
While some states may oppose deportation efforts, Texas is determined to support the incoming administration’s initiative. The Trump administration’s approach to border security and illegal immigration has received widespread support, signaling a shift in policy direction from the previous administration.

In conclusion, Texas’s offer of land for the Trump administration’s mass deportation operation underscores the state’s commitment to enhancing border security and addressing illegal immigration. As the administration prepares to implement its deportation plans, support from states like Texas will be crucial in ensuring the success of these efforts.
