Four individuals are currently missing following a tragic incident involving an Airmedic helicopter that crashed near Natashquan, a community located on Quebec’s North Shore, at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday.

The helicopter, which was carrying a total of four crew members and one passenger, was reportedly engaged in a rescue operation in the area at the time of the crash, as confirmed by Raphaele Bourgault, a spokesperson for the specialized medical air transport company.

Fortunately, one individual was successfully rescued from the crash site and subsequently transported to a nearby hospital. While their injuries have been described as non-life-threatening by provincial police, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the search continues for the remaining four missing persons.

Both ground and aquatic search teams have been deployed to the site in an effort to locate and retrieve the missing individuals. Airmedic has also been actively collaborating with local authorities and emergency responders to manage the situation and provide necessary assistance during this challenging time.

Investigations into the cause of the helicopter crash are currently underway, with both the SQ and Canada’s Transportation Safety Board leading the efforts to determine what led to this tragic incident.
