Biden White House Doctor Kevin O’Connor arrives for deposition in House health probe

The Biden White House Physician, Kevin O’Connor, made headlines as he arrived for a closed-door deposition on Wednesday. The House Oversight Committee was seeking answers from Biden’s former doctor, but O’Connor remained tight-lipped as he entered the meeting, refusing to answer questions about doctor-patient confidentiality or the former president’s mental state.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a progressive Democrat from Texas, who recently lost her bid to become the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, made a surprise appearance at the event. However, she did not speak to reporters on the way in. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer was also seen arriving for the deposition.

The White House has waived executive privilege, making it difficult for O’Connor to refuse to testify on the grounds of protecting his conversations with the president. O’Connor’s lawyers have expressed concerns about violating doctor-patient confidentiality and risking his medical license by testifying. GOP Senator Roger Marshall, also a physician, acknowledged the valid concerns on both sides but warned that failing to appear could lead to contempt charges.

Republicans are eager to learn more about the tests conducted on Biden and whether his inner circle pressured O’Connor to declare him fit for office. Jill Biden’s so-called “work husband,” Anthony Bernthal, has been subpoenaed after backing out, with top insiders like Ron Klain, Steve Ricchetti, and Ashley Williams next in line for questioning.

The committee has only conducted one interview so far, with former Domestic Policy Director Neera Tanden, who claimed to be authorized to use the autopen but was unsure who in the president’s inner circle gave final approval. Comer expressed concerns about recent revelations regarding Biden’s health, including a potential cancer diagnosis during his presidency and allegations of a cover-up of his mental decline.

The transparency of the president’s health is crucial, especially given the position’s immense power. Comer emphasized the American people’s right to know about both the physical and mental health of the president. He rejected the notion that O’Connor could hide behind doctor-patient confidentiality, citing Biden’s status as the president.

In conclusion, the deposition of Kevin O’Connor sheds light on critical issues surrounding the health and well-being of former President Biden. The House Oversight Committee’s investigation aims to ensure transparency and accountability in the highest office in the country.
