Manhunt underway after 1 person reportedly shot at Illinois State University

An emergency alert has been issued at Illinois State University as campus police search for a suspect who allegedly discharged a firearm near or on campus. The school reported one victim and urged everyone to stay away from Bone Student Center. The suspect is described as a slender black male, 5’10” with a black afro hairstyle, wearing all black.

Officials stated that the suspect was last seen running south from University and College Streets. A Sunday evening ISU Emergency Alert was sent out after shots were fired at the student center. Authorities are asking the public to avoid University and Locust St. and the Bone Student Center as officers work to secure the area.

The emergency alert warned that the suspect may be armed and dangerous, posing an immediate threat. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to email ISUPolice@ilstu.edu.
