Chicago Mayor Johnson calls President Donald Trump a ‘monster’

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has ignited a firestorm of controversy after calling President Donald Trump a “monster,” with U.S. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, accusing the mayor of “bragging about” violating the law. Johnson did not mince words when he accused the president of having “animus towards women, people of color, [and] working people.” He boldly stated, “We have always known who he has been. This is not a surprise. He’s a monster, period. We have the most diverse administration in the history of Chicago, and he is threatened by that.”

The White House was reached out to for comment by Fox News Digital, but no response was received at the time of publication.

The mayor’s remarks come amidst the backdrop of the Justice Department launching an investigation into whether Chicago is engaging in race-based discrimination. A letter signed by Assistant Attorney General, Civil Rights Division, Harmeet Dhillon, outlined the basis of the investigation, citing concerns about hiring decisions being made solely on the basis of race.

The letter specifically referenced comments made by Mayor Johnson during a conversation with Dr. Byron T. Brazier, pastor of the Apostolic Church of God. Johnson highlighted the importance of having individuals in his administration who would advocate for the interests of the Black community to ensure long-term sustainable growth.

While the investigation is ongoing and no conclusions have been reached, Sen. Mike Lee made it clear that racial discrimination is illegal, stating, “There’s no such thing as benevolently racist hiring policies.” He called out Mayor Johnson for allegedly breaking the law and boasting about it, while also criticizing his labeling of President Trump as a “monster.”
