Poilievre to address Conservative caucus today, before they go back to Parliament without him

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is set to address his caucus on Sunday as they gear up to return to the House of Commons, with Poilievre himself absent from the chamber. Despite the absence, the caucus is preparing for their parliamentary duties with Poilievre’s guidance.
The Canadian Press reported that Andrew Scheer will step in as the interim leader of the Opposition until Poilievre secures a seat in the House. This temporary arrangement will ensure that the Conservative Party is represented effectively in parliamentary proceedings.
Poilievre’s caucus address is scheduled to be open to the media, providing insight into the party’s strategies and priorities moving forward. The Conservatives secured 144 seats in the recent election, but Poilievre was not among the elected members. In a strategic move, Conservative Damien Kurek has offered to vacate his seat in Alberta to pave the way for Poilievre to run in a upcoming byelection.
In the interim, Poilievre has appointed 73 individuals as critics to focus on specific policy areas. Former party leader Andrew Scheer will take on the role of the leader of the Opposition in the House of Commons, ensuring that the party’s voice is heard on important issues.
Two Members of Parliament, Chris d’Entremont and Tom Kmiec, are expected to spend time lobbying their colleagues for support in the election of the House speaker. This key role will be the first order of business for MPs as Parliament reconvenes on Monday.
The Conservative Party is gearing up for a period of transition and strategic planning as they navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead. Poilievre’s leadership will be instrumental in guiding the party through this period of change.
