All 7 members of K-pop band BTS have finished military service, with Suga discharged

After completing his alternative service duties, Suga, a rapper and songwriter in the global K-pop sensation BTS, has officially been discharged from South Korea’s mandatory military service. This marks the return of all seven members from their enlistment duties, bringing much excitement to fans of the popular group.
BTS’s management agency, Big Hit Entertainment, confirmed that Suga finished his remaining leave and was officially discharged on Saturday. Despite the significance of the occasion, no official events were planned for Suga’s release to avoid overcrowding.
The group, known for hits like “Butter” and “Dynamite,” made history in 2018 as the first South Korean group to top the U.S. albums chart. Their success has continued to grow, with “Dynamite” becoming the first K-pop track to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
With all seven members now back from their military service, BTS plans to reunite as a group sometime in 2025. The members had announced a break from group activities in 2022 to fulfill their mandatory service requirements.
Last week, RM and V were discharged from the military, followed by Jimin and Jung Kook a day later. Hundreds of fans, known as ARMY, gathered to witness their return. All four members were enlisted in December 2023, with Suga opting for an alternative form of service as a social service agent.
Jin, the oldest member of BTS, was discharged in June 2024, while J-Hope completed his service in October. The mandatory military service in South Korea typically lasts 18-21 months and is required for all able-bodied men aged 18 to 28.
In the past, there was debate over whether K-pop stars should receive special exemptions from military service. However, in 2020, the Military Service Act was revised to allow K-pop stars to delay their enlistment until age 30. BTS decided to postpone their service until the age of 30, aligning with the new regulations.
The return of all seven members of BTS from their military service is a significant moment for the group and their fans. As they prepare to reunite and continue their musical journey, the global sensation remains as popular as ever, with their unique blend of music and performance captivating audiences worldwide.
