Defense Secretary Hegseth slams media for undermining Iran nuclear strikes

During a press briefing at the Pentagon, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth lashed out at reporters, accusing them of actively hoping for the failure of President Donald Trump and the recent military strikes against Iran’s nuclear sites. Hegseth pointed to leaked reports from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) that suggested the strikes may not have been as effective as initially thought, and criticized the media for misrepresenting the facts.

Hegseth accused the press of being biased against Trump, stating that it is in their DNA to cheer against the President’s success. He highlighted the low-confidence assessment from the DIA, emphasizing that it was based on limited intelligence and that more information has since been gathered to provide a clearer picture of the situation. The Defense Secretary slammed the media for spreading half-truths and spun information to cast doubt on the success of the strikes.

In his scathing remarks, Hegseth also called out the media for failing to acknowledge the bravery and skill of the American service members who carried out the strikes. He criticized the coverage for not highlighting the accomplishments of the pilots and air defenders involved in Operation Midnight Hammer, which targeted Iran’s nuclear sites.

Hegseth accused the media of peddling classified information for political purposes and undermining the success of the military operation. He urged reporters to focus on celebrating the achievements of the pilots and air defenders who carried out the mission, emphasizing that the strikes had set back Iran’s nuclear program in a significant way.

The Defense Secretary described the strikes as historically successful, stating that the Iranian nuclear sites were destroyed, defeated, and obliterated. He called for Americans to celebrate the operation as a step towards peace and preventing a nuclear Iran, commending President Trump for having the courage to take action where other presidents had not.
