Trump ‘absolutely’ open to more strikes if Iran resumes uranium enrichment

President Donald Trump has made it clear that he is willing to conduct additional strikes against Iran if Tehran resumes its nuclear program to a level that is deemed concerning to the United States. This statement comes in response to questions from reporters on Friday, to which Trump responded, “Sure. Without question, absolutely.”

This is not the first time Trump has issued warnings to Iran. At the NATO Summit in the Netherlands earlier in the week, he reiterated that the U.S. would not hesitate to take further action if Iran were to restart its nuclear program. Trump also took the opportunity to criticize Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who declared victory over Israel just days prior. Trump claimed that he had spared Khamenei from death, stating, “I saved him from a very ugly and ignominious death, and he does not have to say, ‘Thank you, President Trump!'”

Following Trump’s remarks, the U.S. launched strikes targeting key Iranian nuclear facilities late Saturday, involving more than 125 U.S. aircraft, according to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine. Trump later addressed the nation, stating that the mission had successfully obliterated Iran’s nuclear sites. However, a leaked report from the Defense Intelligence Agency, published by CNN and the New York Times, cast doubt on these claims, suggesting that the strikes had only set back Iran’s nuclear program by several months.

Despite this controversy, the U.S., Israel, and Iran’s Foreign Ministry have all confirmed that the targeted nuclear sites suffered significant damage. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has announced that the FBI is conducting an investigation to determine who leaked the document that raised questions about the effectiveness of the strikes.

In conclusion, Trump’s willingness to take further action against Iran if necessary, combined with the ongoing investigation into the impact of the recent strikes, highlights the complex and volatile nature of the situation in the Middle East. As tensions continue to escalate, it remains to be seen how the international community will respond to these developments.
